Initial Inspection - Warning Devices
NOTE: The Generic Electronic Module (GEM) must be reconfigured upon installation, refer to Module Communications Network (Information Bus).1. Verify the customer concern by operating the system in question.
Visual Inspection Chart:
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of electrical damage.
3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
4. If the diagnostic tool does not power up, refer to the diagnostic tool manual.
5. Carry out the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. If the diagnostic tool responds with:
- CKT930, CKT914, CKT915 or CKT70 - ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, refer to Module Communications Network (Information Bus).
- NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for generic electronic module (GEM), refer to Multifunction Electronic Control Module (General Module).
- SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record the continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs and carry out the self-test diagnostics for the instrument cluster.
6. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to the GEM Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index. Trouble Code Descriptions - Warning Devices
