EGR Valve: Service and Repair

EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) VALVE

Removal and Installation







1. Remove the engine appearance cover.







2. Remove the brake booster vacuum tube retaining bolt and disconnect the vacuum tube and the vacuum hose.







3. Disconnect the vacuum hose.







4. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) tube upper fitting.







5. Remove the EGR valve.
1. Remove the bolts.
2. Remove the EGR valve and discard the gasket.

6. NOTE: The EGR valve sealing surfaces are soft metals.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Carefully clean the EGR valve sealing surfaces.
- Install a new EGR valve gasket.
