With Hard Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)/Lamp Fault Codes (LFC)

The air bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) diagnostic procedures will require deactivation and reactivation of the SRS. Deactivation will require the following:
^ Removal of the driver and passenger air bags.
^ Removal of the seat for SRS seat related faults.
^ Disconnection of the seat side air bag (if equipped) for non seat related SRS faults.
^ Installation of restraint system diagnostic tools. This reduces the risk of deployment of air bag modules and safety belt pretensioners while diagnostic are being carried out.

If the air bag indicator is illuminated when the vehicle comes in for service refer to Inspection and Verification. Inspection and Verification

Restraint system diagnostic tools are required for the diagnosis and testing of the SRS. It is not acceptable to short-circuit the air bag module connections with a jumper wire. If a jumper wire is used to short-circuit the air bag module connections, a Lamp Fault Code (LFC) will be displayed.

WARNING: THE AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS MUST BE REMOVED AND THE AIR BAG MODULES AND PRETENSIONERS MUST BE RECONNECTED WHEN THE SYSTEM IS REACTIVATED TO AVOID NON-DEPLOYMENT IN A COLLISION, RESULTING IN POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.

The reactivation procedure requires the removal of any restraint system diagnostic tools installed and the reconnection of any air bag modules disconnected.
