TRIM - CREASE IN HEADLINER ABOVE LEFT A-PILLAR

FORD:
1999-2003 WINDSTAR

ISSUE
Some vehicles may exhibit a crease in the Headliner above the Left A-Pillar. This may be caused by the headliner to A-Pillar attachment.

ACTION
Remove the A-Pillar moulding, lower the Headliner and smooth the crease from the material. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

To remove a crease in the Headliner above the left hand side A-Pillar use the following procedure.

1. Take down the weather strip from the top of the A-Pillar to the bottom of the A-Pillar and across the top of the front driver's door.

2. Pull the A-Pillar off so that you can reach inside the top 10 inches. Do not remove it completely.

3. There is a black wire that runs up the A-Pillar and goes about 10 inches across the top of the A-Pillar before going under the main part of the Headliner. Pull the wire from the A-Pillar to the inner edge of the flange for about 10 inches from the top of the A-Pillar.

4. This will allow the Headliner to rest against the sheet metal and assume the shape of the top of the A-Pillar garnish.

5. Push on the back of the Headliner at the crease until it is smooth. The crease will still be visible before you put the A-Pillar back in place. Reshape the Headliner 4 or 5 times until the crease is relaxed.

6. Reinstall the A-Pillar and smooth the headliner again, the crease will disappear behind the A-Pillar top edge. If necessary repeat Steps 5 and 6 again.

7. When complete, reinstall the A-Pillar and the weather strip.
