The keyless entry remote transmitter initiates the following electronic door lock system functions:
- unlocks the driver door
- unlocks all doors
- locks all doors
- activate/deactivate the panic alarm
- commands the interior lamps on (when unlocking) and off (when locking)
- sounds the horn once when LOCK is pressed twice within three seconds, and doors are closed
- sounds the horn twice when LOCK is pressed twice within three seconds, and any door is ajar
NOTE:
- The panic alarm feature only operates when the key is in the OFF position.
- The LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the key fob operate independent of ignition status.
The keyless entry remote transmitters (up to four) are reprogrammable and must be set at the same time.
To confirm that the doors have been locked, press the LOCK button again within three seconds of the first press. The horn will sound once if the doors have locked and all doors are closed.
To activate the panic alarm:
- Press the red PANIC button on the keyless entry remote transmitter. The horn will sound and the parking lamps will flash for a maximum of 2 minutes and 45 seconds.
To deactivate the panic alarm:
- Press the red PANIC button again on the keyless entry remote transmitter.
- Turn the key to RUN/START.
The keyless entry keypad can be used to unlock the driver door, lock and unlock all the doors and enable/disable auto locking. It also lights the keypad lamp and issues illuminated entry on/off requests to the Central Security Module when locking and unlocking.
The system (permanent) entry code is located on the owner's wallet card in the glove box; it is also electronically accessible by using a diagnostic tool and is on the receiver assembly housing.
The receiver assembly is programmed at the factory with a five-digit entry code. A new receiver assembly includes a new owner's code card. The system also allows the customer to program a five-digit personal entry code.
To turn on the interior lamps and light all illuminated components, press any button on the keyless entry keypad.
To unlock the drive door, enter the permanent factory code or enter the owner's personal entry code. To unlock the passenger door(s), press 3/4 button within five seconds of unlocking the driver door.
To lock all doors, press the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons at the same time. (It is not necessary to enter the key code first.) This will turn off the courtesy lamps.
If the autolock feature is enabled all doors must be closed for the autolock feature to activate. The autolock feature will activate when the ignition switch is in the RUN or START position, the transmission is moved in and out of REVERSE and then the driver releases the brake pedal.
After the initial lock, all doors will automatically relock when any door is opened and then closed followed by the release of the brake pedal. However, the doors will not relock if the key is OFF.
NOTE: The door ajar state will be monitored continuously for 500 milliseconds after locking has occurred. If a door is opened again within 500 milliseconds, the driver door will unlock.
The door may not automatically lock if the vehicle is shifted too quickly into gear after starting the engine.
Anti-Scan Feature
To provide added security, the keyless entry pad is disabled for one minute after 35 button presses without a valid code being entered. The keypad will flash during this one-minute mode with all functionality disabled except for 7/8 and 9/0 still being allowed to lock the vehicle.
Anti-Scan will be turned off after any of the following events:
- one-minute of keypad inactivity
- the key fob UNLOCK button is pressed
- the key is turned to the ON position
Power Unlock Inhibit
With the key OFF, 20 seconds after electrically locked (key fob, keypad, door lock control switch locked with door ajar) and all doors are closed, the power door unlock switch will be inhibited if this feature is enabled. (The lock function will still operate.)
Deactivating/Activating Power Door Unlock Switch Inhibit
This is dealer configurable and can be enabled/disabled using a diagnostic tool.
Autolock Enable/Disable
Autolock can be enabled/disabled using the following three methods: diagnostic tool, keyless entry keypad, ignition lock cylinder.
A manual enable/disable mode allows the autolock feature to be turned off and on.
