REMOVAL

WARNING: THE NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM IS VERY HIGH. NEVER ATTEMPT TO SERVICE ANY PART OF THE SYSTEM UNTIL IT HAS COOLED. BE ESPECIALLY CAREFUL WHEN WORKING AROUND THE THREE WAY CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE TEMPERATURE OF THE THREE WAY CATALYTIC CONVERTER RISES TO A HIGH LEVEL AFTER ONLY A FEW MINUTES OF ENGINE OPERATION. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.







2. Disconnect the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.
3. Raise and support the vehicle.







4. Using the special tool, remove the HO2S.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE: Apply a light coat of High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Compound F6AZ-9L494-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M12A4-A to the threads of the HO2S.
