PROGRAMMING

2003-2004 Focus

ISSUE
Some 2003-2004 Focus vehicles, equipped with 2.3L PZEV engines and 4F27E automatic transaxles, may exhibit the loss of previously programmed ignition key(s) from the passive anti-theft system (PATS) memory in the powertrain control module (PCM) that results in a key that will not start the vehicle.

ACTION
Reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to the latest calibration using WDS/IDS release B42.6 and higher or B43.1 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the B43 CD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 419-01B for ignition key programming procedures.
