HANDLES, LOCKS, LATCHES AND ENTRY SYSTEMS

The hood latch is controlled by the mechanical interior hood release handle and cable.

The door latch system contains a latch that is fastened to the inside of the door frame and is controlled by the exterior and interior door handles. The door latch contains the door ajar switch and the lock actuator. The door locks are actuated by a remote transmitter, the interior door lock/unlock switches or manually (lock cylinder/push-button rod).

The luggage compartment lid latch system contains a lid latch with a mechanical interior release handle and cable and a release solenoid. The luggage compartment lid latch can be released using the luggage compartment lid release switch, the remote transmitter or the luggage compartment lid lock cylinder.

The keyless entry system uses a remote transmitter to communicate with the remote keyless entry (RKE) module. The RKE module sends a signal to the rear electronics module (REM) which controls the output functions of the door locks and luggage compartment lid. The REM is located in the RH rear side of the luggage compartment.

Individual lock cylinders are repaired by discarding the inoperative cylinder and building a new lock cylinder using the appropriate lock repair package. The lock repair package includes a detailed instruction sheet to build the new lock cylinder to the current key code of the vehicle

When installing the removable top latches, they can only be adjusted at the time of installation.
