Front Subframe: Service and Repair

Removal and Installation
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the upper radiator shield.
3. Remove the cowl grille.
4. Install the special tool.
5. Install the special tool.
6. Remove the front wheels.
7. Remove the dual converter Y-pipe.
8. Remove the cotter pins and nuts from the two tie rod ends.
9. Using the special tool, disconnect the two tie rod ends.
10. Remove the two ball joint nuts and bolts.
11. Remove the two nuts and disconnect two stabilizer bar lower links.
12. NOTE: Position the boot aside to gain access to the pinch bolt.
Remove the intermediate shaft pinch bolt.
13. Remove the engine mount nut.
14. Remove the transmission support bolts.
15. Remove the engine mount nut.
16. Remove the two bolts and position the power steering return line aside.
17. Position a suitable lift under the vehicle and support the subframe.
18. Install the special tool.
19. Remove the four front subframe bolts.
20. NOTE:
- Use the special tools to install the new seals on the power steering lines.
- Slightly lower the subframe to gain access to the power steering lines.
Disconnect the power steering lines from the steering gear and discard the seals.
21. CAUTION: Guide the subframe down carefully to avoid damaging any components.
Lower the subframe.
22. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Refill the power steering reservoir with power steering fluid.
