Heater Core Case: Service and Repair

Auxiliary Climate Control

REMOVAL
1. Discharge and recover the refrigerant.
2. Drain the engine cooling system.
3. Raise and support the vehicle.







4. Disconnect the heater water hoses.
^ Loosen the clamps.







5. Disconnect the refrigerant line.
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Remove the trim panels.







8. Remove the rear duct.
1 Remove the two pin-type retainers.
2 Remove the duct.







9. Remove the rear floor duct.
1 Remove the nut.
2 Remove the duct.







10. Remove the rear center duct.
1 Remove the nut.
2 Remove the screws.
3 Remove the duct.







11. Disconnect the motor electrical connector.







12. Unclip the wiring harness.







13. Disconnect the heater and auxiliary air electrical connectors.







14. Remove the auxiliary air line screws.







15. Remove the bolts.







16. Remove the air conditioning and beater assembly.

CAUTION: Do not spill any of the remaining coolant or refrigerant oil in the vehicle when removing housing.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Lubricate the coolant hoses with MERPOL(R) meeting Ford specification ESE-M99B144-B or plain water only, if needed.
