Lubricate the camshaft bearing caps.
Position the camshaft bearing caps.
Install the bolts loosely.
Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
Cylinder Head
Tighten the bolts in sequence in three stages.
Tighten the LH bolts in the sequence shown.
Tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
Tighten additional 90 degrees.
Tighten additional 90 degrees.
Tighten the bolts in three stages.
Tighten the RH bolts in the sequence shown.
Tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
Tighten additional 90 degrees.
Tighten additional 90 degrees.
Exhaust Manifold RH
Exhaust manifold nuts 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
NOTE: 4.6L engine shown; 5.4L engine similar.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Tighten the exhaust manifold nuts in the sequence shown.
Exhaust Manifold LH
Exhaust manifold nuts 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
NOTE: 4.6L is shown, 5.4L is similar.
Tighten the nuts in the sequence shown.
