GENERATOR AND VOLTAGE REGULATOR

NOTE: The 6.0L diesel engines are available with an optional package that comes with dual generators.

The charging system consists of the following components:
- generator(s)
- an internal voltage regulator that is not repaired separately
- generator warning lamp
- associated wiring

The generator and voltage regulator:
- supplies current to the electrical system.
- charges the battery.
- adjusts the generator field current to increase or decrease generator output.
- turns the generator warning lamp on when a problem is detected in the charging system.
