Hose/Line HVAC: Service and Repair
CONDENSER TO EVAPORATOR LINE
REMOVAL
NOTE: Installation of a new suction accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is physical evidence of contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.
1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to: Heating and Air Conditioning, Service and Repair, Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure, Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery procedure
2. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
3. Raise the vehicle.
4. Remove the line bracket pin-type retainer.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Remove the nut and disconnect the fitting at the condenser.
- Discard the O-ring seal.
7. Disconnect the spring lock coupling at the evaporator core.
- Discard the O-ring seals.
8. Remove the condenser to evaporator line.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install new O-ring seals lubricated in clean PAG oil.
- Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil.
2. Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system. Refer to: Heating and Air Conditioning, Service and Repair, Evacuating and Charging, Evacuation and Charging
