Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.





2. NOTE: To maintain initial driveshaft balance, mark the rear driveshaft yoke and axle flange so they may be installed in their original alignment.

Mark the rear driveshaft.





3. Remove the rear driveshaft.
1. Remove the rear driveshaft bolts.
2. Remove the rear driveshaft.





4. Using the special tools, remove the extension housing seal.

Installation





1. Position new extension housing seal with drain hole in the 6 o'clock position.





2. Using the special tool, install the extension housing seal.





3. NOTE: Inspect the driveshaft slip-yoke for wear and damage. Install a new component if required.

Align the driveshaft with the marks made during removal to ensure correct balance.





4. Install the rear driveshaft bolts.
5. Fill the transmission to the correct fluid level with clean automatic transmission fluid and check for correct transmission operation.
