BACK GLASS PUSH OUT

FORD:
2004 Ranger

ISSUE
Some vehicles may exhibit the back glass pushing out from the window frame/opening. This is due to a change in the height of the seat back. When the seat back is in the fully reclined position, the seat back may come in contact with the back glass, pushing it out from the window opening.

ACTION
Order and install a new back glass assembly. The new back glass has additional support studs. Refer to the following Service Procedure.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the back glass assembly, refer to Workshop Manual Section 501-11.

2. At the top of the window opening, locate the center hole in the sheet metal flange.

3. Measure from the center hole 11" (28 cm) to the left and right. Mark these locations with an awl.

4. Drill one (1) hole at each of the two (2) marked locations using a 0.9 mm drill bit.

5. De-burr the newly drilled holes.

6. Clean all drill filings from the sheet metal surface.

7. Coat the drilled surface with Motorcraft Low Temperature Anti-Corrosion Coating PM-12-A to prevent corrosion.

8. Install replacement back glass assembly, refer to Workshop Manual Section 501-11.
