Radiator: Service and Repair

Radiator-3.0L and 4.0L

Removal
1. Drain the cooling system.
2. Remove throttle body cover.





3. Remove upper radiator hose at the radiator.





4. Remove the radiator overflow hose or radiator vent hose.





5. Remove the two screws. Lift the fan shroud out of the lower retaining clips and drape it on the fan blade.





6. Remove the lower radiator hose.





7. NOTE: To avoid disturbing the transmission oil cooler fittings, use a backup wrench.

Disconnect the two transmission cooling tubes, if equipped.





8. Disconnect the transmission cooler tubes at the bottom of the radiator if equipped.





9. Remove the screws and tilt the radiator back and lift it directly upward.

Installation





1. Position the radiator into the engine compartment and install the bolts.





2. NOTE: To avoid disturbing the transmission oil cooler fitting, use a backup wrench.

Connect the two transmission cooling lines to the radiator oil cooler fittings if equipped.





3. Connect the transmission cooler tubes to the bottom of the radiator, if equipped.





4. NOTE: Reinstall the constant tension clamps in the same position from where they were removed.

Connect the upper radiator hose to the radiator.





5. NOTE: Reinstall the constant tension clamp in the same position from where it was removed.

Install the lower radiator hose to the radiator.





6. Install the fan shroud to the radiator.





7. Install the radiator overflow hose or radiator vent hose to the radiator.
8. Fill and bleed the cooling system.

9. WARNING: Do not stand in line with or near the engine cooling fan blade when revving the engine.

Operate the engine for several minutes and check the hoses and connections for leaks.
