Horn: Description and Operation
HORNThe horn system includes the following components:
- clockspring
- horn
- horn relay (part of the smart junction box)
- horn switch
- steering wheel control switch harness (part of the steering wheel assembly)
The horn is located behind the front bumper and is mounted to the radiator support.
The horn switches are integrated into the steering wheel. For the removal and installation of the steering wheel, refer to Steering.
The smart junction box (SJB) is located behind the RH A-pillar lower trim panel. For the removal and installation of the smart junction box, refer to Body Control Systems (Multifunction Electronic Control Module).
PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION
When the horn switch is pressed, the horn relay (part of the smart junction box [SJB]) is grounded, the horn relay coil is energized and the horn sounds.
