Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
SPEAKER WALK-AROUND TEST - AM/FM AUDIO UNITNOTE: The audio unit must be turned on to enter the speaker walk-around test.
1. To enter the test, press preset buttons 1 and 3 simultaneously and hold approximately 3 seconds and release.
2. The test stops at each speaker and applies sound to the speaker for 1 to 2 seconds. Each speaker is tested in the following sequence: RH, LH.
3. To exit the test, turn the ignition switch off or turn the audio unit off.
4. If the concern remains and the fault is not detected, proceed to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
SPEAKER WALK-AROUND TEST - ALL EXCEPT AM/FM AUDIO UNIT
NOTE:
- The audio unit must be turned on and in radio tuner mode (AM/FM) to enter the speaker walk-around test or self-diagnostic mode.
- The self-diagnostic mode can only be entered while in the speaker walk-around test.
1. To enter the test, press preset buttons 3 and 6 simultaneously and hold approximately 3 seconds, then release.
2. The test stops at each speaker and applies sound to the speaker for 1 to 2 seconds. Each speaker is tested and shown on the display in the following sequence: RF, LF, LR, RR.
3. To exit the test, turn the ignition switch off, turn the audio unit off, or press preset button 1 for diagnostics. Also, the TREMOR audio unit will automatically exit the speaker walk-around test when it is complete.
NOTE: Always document, clear, and carry out the self-test again.
4. The TREMOR Audio Unit, Dual Media and CDX6 Self-Diagnostic Mode has 5 manual tests available:
- Preset button 1 = ENTER DIAGNOSTICS. This test enters diagnostics from the speaker walk-around test. The on-demand self-test of the audio subsystem is performed. This tests for problems with RAM, ROM or EEPROM.
- Preset button 2 = CONTINUOUS DTCS. This test enters diagnostics from the speaker walk-around test. View any diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) currently set.
Preset button 3 = SIGNAL STRENGTH TEST. This test shows the average signal strength of the currently tuned frequency over a 5-second interval.
- Preset button 4 = Software configuration level. This test queries each audio unit system controller for its software configuration level.
- Preset button 5 = DISPLAY TEST. This test lights all the Dual Media display segments for 5 seconds and then turns all segments off.
5. To exit the TREMOR Audio Unit, Dual Media or CDX6 Self-Diagnostic Mode, turn the ignition switch off or turn the audio unit off. Also, on the TREMOR audio unit pressing preset buttons 3 and 6 simultaneously will re-enter the speaker walk-around test and automatically exit Self-Diagnostic Mode when the test is complete.
6. If the concern remains and the fault is not detected, proceed to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
