ISSUE
Some 2005 Escape Hybrid vehicles built 8/2/2004 through 2/7/2005, may exhibit various concerns after deceleration: vehicle speed may be limited to approximately 5 MPH (7 km/h); the yellow wrench indicator and malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) may be on; diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P1A13 and U2023, DTC P2104 may also be present.
ACTION
If the vehicle conditions are verified as described, reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using WDS release B36.4 or higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website. Clear all DTCs after reprogramming. If the condition is still present continue with the normal PC/ED diagnostics for the specific DTC(s).
