Test J: The Low Oil Pressure Indicator Is Never/Always On
PINPOINT TEST J: THE LOW OIL PRESSURE INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ONJ1-J3:

J7-J8:
Normal Conditions (Escape, Mariner)
The oil pressure switch is a normally open switch. When the oil pressure is within normal ranges, the oil pressure switch closes and sends a ground signal to the instrument cluster and turns off the oil pressure warning indicator. When oil pressure is low, the oil pressure switch opens, removing the ground signal, and the instrument cluster turns on the low oil pressure warning indicator.
Normal Conditions (Escape Hybrid)
The oil pressure switch is normally closed. The oil pressure is measured only when the internal combustion engine is running.
Possible Causes
- circuit 253 (DG/WH) open, short to ground, or short to power
- engine oil pressure switch
- instrument cluster
