Evaporator Outlet Line
EVAPORATOR OUTLET LINERemoval and Installation
CAUTION: Refrigerant Compressor Oil (mineral oil) F73Z-19577-AA (Motorcraft YN-9-A) should be used to lubricate R-134a refrigerant system O-ring seals only and should not be added to the R-134a refrigerant system as an A/C compressor lubricant. PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B only should be used as an A/C compressor lubricant.
NOTE: Installation of a new suction accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is physical evidence of contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.
1. Remove the air cleaner and air cleaner outlet tube.
2. Recover the refrigerant.
3. Disconnect the RH wheel speed sensor electrical connector.
4. Remove the 3 coolant bottle bolts.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
5. Remove the fender splash shield A/C line bracket nut.
- To install, tighten to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft).
6. Remove the fender splash shield A/C line bracket.
7. Remove the dash panel A/C line bracket nut.
- To install, tighten to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft).
8. Remove the dash panel A/C line bracket.
9. Disconnect the A/C cycling switch electrical connector.
10. Remove the A/C fitting nut.
- Discard the O-ring seal.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
11. Disconnect the evaporator outlet line and remove it.
- Discard the O-ring seals.
12. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install new O-ring seals, lubricated in clean mineral oil.
- Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil.
13. Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system.
