Removal and Installation

NOTE: Explorer shown, Mountaineer similar.

1. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
2. Remove the 14 splash shield pin-type retainers.
3. Remove the 6 splash shield scrivets.
4. If equipped, remove the side lamp assembly.







5. If removing the right fender, remove the antenna mast and bolt, and position the antenna cable.

6. Remove the 2 grille opening panel bolts.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

7. Remove the 4 top fender bolts.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).

8. Remove the 2 upper A-pillar inner fender bolts.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).

9. Remove the 2 lower A-pillar inner fender bolts.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).

10. Remove the fender.
11. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
