Structural Enhancement-Nylon Insert

CAUTION: Higher than expected frame pull pressures may be needed to return the frame to the original position when performing a pull in the area of the nylon insert.









NOTE: Portions of the frame are removed from this drawing to show the location of the nylon insert.

This structural enhancement is being added to the 2002 Explorer/Mountaineer frame starting with the last week of production in October of 2001. The purpose of this insert is to enhance the structural rigidity of the frame in this area. This insert is secured in position with a high density structural foam. In the event of a collision which requires frame repair in the area of this nylon insert, the following repair procedure should be followed in the event that the nylon insert has broken loose from the frame and a rattle is detected.
