Normal Operation
The 4X4 high indicator status is transmitted to the instrument cluster from the powertrain control module (PCM) through the communication network. A steady indicator displays whether the vehicle is in 4X4 LOW or 4X4 HIGH, according to the driver selection. The 4X4 indicators are also used to flash diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). Depending on the type of failure, the indicator flashes 5, 8, or 10 times at 2 minute intervals to indicate four-wheel drive concerns.
