Shift Linkage: Adjustments

Gearshift Cable Adjustment





Special Tool(s)





1. Detach the gearshift lever boot and trim panel from the floor console.





2. NOTE: Make sure that the gearshift lever is in the NEUTRAL position.

Using the special tool, lock the gearshift mechanism.
1. Pull the reverse gear release.
2. Install the special tool.





3. Rotate the special tool approximately 45 degrees clockwise to lock the gearshift mechanism.

4. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.





5. Release the lock tab on the shift cable.





6. Release the lock tab on the selector cable.





7. NOTE: By shifting the weighted shift lever into third gear, it locks the small lever into the neutral position.

Move the weighted shift lever forward into the third gear position.





8. Depress the lock tab on the selector cable, setting the cable adjustment to the small lever.





9. Move the weighted shift lever back into the neutral position.
10. Depress the lock tab on the shift cable.





11. Rotate the special tool approximately 45 degrees counterclockwise to unlock the gearshift mechanism.





12. Remove the special tool.
1. Pull the reverse gear release.
2. Remove the special tool.





13. Attach the gearshift lever boot and trim panel to the floor console.
^ Install the insulation pad.
