Removal and Installation

1. CAUTION:
- Prior to the removal of the module, it is necessary to upload module configuration information to the appropriate diagnostic equipment. This information needs to be downloaded into the new module once installed.
- Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.


Disconnect the battery.

2. Remove the steering column cover and reinforcement.
3. Disconnect the front SJB electrical connectors.
4. Remove the SJB nuts.
- To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).

5. Remove the SJB bracket screw.
- To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).

6. NOTE: Position the SJB forward to allow access to the wiring harness connectors on the rear face of the SJB.

Disconnect the rear SJB electrical connectors.

7. NOTE:
- Once the SJB is installed, it is necessary to download the module configuration information from the diagnostic tool into the new module.
- Make sure the coaxial connector is connected, or the remote keyless entry (RKE) system will experience diminished range.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
