Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair

Removal and Installation

NOTE: If a condenser core Leak is suspected, the condenser core must be Leak-tested before it is removed from the vehicle.

NOTE: Installation of a new suction accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system, except when there is physical evidence of system contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.

All vehicles

1. Recover the refrigerant. Refrigerant

Vehicles with 4.0L engine

2. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube (9B659) and the engine air cleaner (9600). Intake Air Duct Air Cleaner Housing

All vehicles





3. Disconnect the condenser-to-evaporator line (19835) from the condenser core (19712).
- Discard the O-ring seal.





4. Disconnect the compressor manifold and tube assembly discharge line fitting (19D734) from the condenser core.
- Discard the O-ring seal.





5. Remove the screws and tilt the radiator (8005) back.





6. Remove the pin-type retainers and remove the top seal.





7. NOTE: It may be necessary to remove the radiator from the mounting saddles to provide clearance for condenser core removal.

Remove the screws and the condenser core.

8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install new O-ring seals.
- Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil or equivalent. Refrigerant Oil
9. Evacuate, Leak test and charge the refrigerant system. Refrigerant
