Removal and Installation

CAUTION: Suspension fasteners are critical parts because they affect the performance of vital components and systems and their failure can result in major repair expense. A new part with the same part number must be installed if installation is necessary. Do not use a new part of lesser quality or substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of these parts.

NOTE: New control arm cam bolts and nuts must be installed whenever they are removed from the control arms.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies.
3. Remove the front valance panels.
4. When removing the radiator crossmember, support the radiator.

5. NOTE:
- When installing, loosely install the nuts. With the vehicle at curb height, tighten the nuts to the specification.
- When installing, use new front stabilizer bar link nuts.

Remove the LH and RH front stabilizer bar link nuts.
- To install, tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).

6. Remove the 10 front cross brace bolts and the front cross brace.
- To install, tighten to 63 Nm (46 lb-ft).

7. NOTE:
- When installing, loosely install the bolts. With the vehicle at curb height, tighten the bolts to the specification.
- When installing, use new control arm cam bolts and nuts.

Remove the 2 control arm cam bolts and nuts (1 cam bolt and nut per side).
- To install, tighten to 175 Nm (129 lb-ft).

8. Remove the air conditioning (A/C) line bracket bolt.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

9. NOTE: When installing, use new radiator crossmember bolts.

Remove the 4 radiator crossmember bolts (2 per side).
- To install, tighten to 103 Nm (76 lb-ft).

10. NOTE: If equipped, disconnect the block heater cable from the crossmember.

Remove the radiator crossmember.

11. NOTE: A front wheel alignment is required when the crossmember(s) or any of the control arm cam bolts and nuts are removed.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
