Exhaust Manifold - RHMaterial:
NOTE: 4.6L shown, 5.4L similar.
Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Remove the 2 exhaust Y-pipe flange nuts.
3. Remove the 8 exhaust manifold nuts.
4. Remove the RH exhaust manifold and discard the gasket.
5. Clean and inspect the exhaust manifold.
Installation
1. CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs, or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These may cause scratches and gouges resulting in leak paths. Use a plastic scraper to clean the sealing surfaces.
Clean the sealing surfaces with metal surface prep.
2. NOTE: Install a new exhaust manifold gasket.
Position the gasket and the RH exhaust manifold and tighten the nuts in the sequence shown.
^ Tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
3. Position the Y-pipe flange and install the 2 nuts.
^ Tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
