EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) VALVE

Removal
1. Remove the engine cover.
2. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve vacuum hose.
3. Disconnect the upper exhaust manifold-to-EGR valve tube fitting nut.
4. Remove the bolts and the EGR valve.
- Discard the gasket.

Installation

1. NOTE: The EGR valve sealing surfaces are soft metals.

Carefully clean both sealing surfaces.
- Install a new EGR gasket.

2. Install the EGR valve.
- Tighten the bolts in 2 stages.
- Stage 1: Tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
- Stage 2: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.

3. Connect the upper exhaust manifold-to-EGR valve tube fitting nut.
- Tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).

4. Connect the EGR valve vacuum hose.
5. Install the engine cover.
