Test AG: Key-In-Ignition Warning Chime Is Inoperative
Pinpoint Test AG: The Key-In-Ignition Warning Chime Is Inoperative
Normal Operation
When the key is inserted into the ignition lock cylinder, the key-in-ignition switch (part of the ignition switch) closes, providing a voltage signal to the instrument cluster through circuit CDC3O (BU/GY). The door ajar status is communicated to the instrument cluster from the smart junction box (SJB) through the controller area network (CAN). If the instrument cluster detects that the ignition switch is in the OFF or ACC position, the key is inserted in the ignition lock cylinder, and the SJB communicates to the instrument cluster that the driver door is ajar, the key-in-ignition warning chime sounds.
Possible Causes
- circuit CDC3O (BU/GY) open or short to ground
- key-in-ignition switch (part of the ignition switch)
- instrument cluster
