ISSUE
Some 2006 F-150 and Mark LT vehicles equipped with a 4.6L or 5.4L engine may illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) of P0606. Some vehicles equipped with 4.6L and 5.4L engine may exhibit a high idle or fast idle conditions and the 5.4L engine may exhibit an intermittent hard start.
ACTION
If a vehicle exhibits DTC P0606 with no other DTC or driveability concerns, clear the DTC, restart the vehicle and run KOER. If the P0606 returns after the retest, perform normal Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) diagnostics for P0606. If the DIC clears, or the vehicle exhibits the high idle, fast idle, or hard start concern reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release B44.12 or higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2006.7 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.
