Engine

Installation (Steps 29-57)





29. Connect the vapor hose to the intake manifold.





30. Connect the brake booster vacuum hose.





31. Position the engine ground wire and install the retainer.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).





32. Position the powertrain control module (PCM) electrical ground wire and install the retainer.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).





33. Connect the PCM electrical connector and tighten the bolt.
^ Tighten to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).





34. Position the engine wiring harness and install the retainer nut.





35. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector and tighten the bolt.
^ Tighten to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).





36. NOTE: 2WD shown, 4WD similar.

Install the engine wiring harness bracket and bolt and connect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector.





37. Position the wiring harness and install the bolt.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).





38. Connect the generator wiring.
^ Tighten to 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.).





39. Position the accessory bracket, the A/C compressor if equipped, and the power steering pump and power steering fluid reservoir as an assembly and install the accessory bracket bolts.
^ Tighten to 42 Nm (31 ft. lbs.).





40. NOTE: The battery is removed for clarity.

Connect the power steering return hose to the power steering fluid reservoir.





41. Connect the power steering high pressure hose to the lower power steering pump fitting.





42. If equipped with A/C, position the A/C compressor manifold tube and install the bolt.
^ Tighten to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).





43. If equipped with A/C connect the A/C high pressure switch electrical connector.
44. If equipped with A/C, connect the A/C field coil electrical connector.
45. Install the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories.





46. Connect the accelerator and speed control cables.
1. Position the cables and connect the accelerator and speed control cables to the bracket.
2. Connect the accelerator and speed control cables to the throttle body.

47. NOTE: Do not fill the cooling system at this time.

Install the radiator. For additional information, refer to Cooling System.





48. Install the air cleaner housing cover.





49. Connect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor.
50. Install the fan blade. For additional information, refer to Cooling System.
51. Install the hood.
52. Connect the fuel tube spring lock couplings. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.
53. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.
54. Fill the engine to the correct oil level with clean engine oil.
55. Fill the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System.
56. Fill the power steering system.
57. If equipped with A/C, recharge the A/C system. For additional information, refer to Heating and Air Conditioning.
