Normal Operation
The PATS uses an LED indicator integral to the instrument cluster. This indicator proves out for 3 seconds when the key is turned to the ON or START position under normal operation. If there is a PATS concern, the indicator either flashes rapidly or glows steadily (for more than 3 seconds) when the key is turned to the ON or START position. PATS also flashes the theft indicator every 2 seconds at key OFF to act as a visual theft deterrent. The LED indicator receives voltage on circuit 3049 (BK/LG) from the smart junction box (SJB) and is grounded through the powertrain control module (PCM) on circuit 343 (DB/LG).
Possible Causes
- circuit 343 (DB/LG) open or short to ground
- circuit 3049 (BK/LG) open, short to ground, or short to voltage
- instrument cluster
- PCM
