Power Transfer Unit (PTU)

Power Transfer Unit (PTU):

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.

2. CAUTION: A new power transfer unit (PTU) intermediate shaft seal must be installed whenever the intermediate shaft or PTU is removed from the vehicle.

Remove the intermediate shaft.
3. Remove the driveshaft.
4. Remove the exhaust flexible pipe and the RH catalytic converter. For additional information, refer to Catalytic Converter.
5. Remove the 2 PTU-to-support bracket bolts.
6. Remove the 3 PTU support bracket bolts and the PTU support bracket.





7. Remove the 5 PTU-to-transaxle bolts.





8. Separate the PTU from the transaxle. Remove the PTU.
