Test J: The Stability Assist System Cannot Be Disabled
PINPOINT TEST J: THE STABILITY ASSIST SYSTEM CANNOT BE DISABLEDRefer to Vehicle/Diagrams, Vehicle Dynamic Systems for schematic and connector information.
Normal Operation
Engine torque modulation is achieved by regulating fuel and spark to the cylinders. The stability assist system operates using the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module to interact with the powertrain control module (PCM) to reduce engine torque if one or both rear wheels lose traction and begin to spin during acceleration.
The stability/traction control switch is a momentary contact switch and is part of the liftgate release and hazard switch assembly. When the switch is pressed, ABS module circuit CCA15 (YE/GY) is momentarily grounded through the switch along circuit GD138 (BK/WH). The ABS module then sends information to the PCM along the high speed communication area network (HS-CAN) to modulate the engine torque.
Possible Causes
^ Circuit open
^ Stability/traction control switch
^ ABS module
