Normal Operation
The instrument cluster controls the passive anti-theft system (PATS) with the powertrain control module PCM) and receives the anti-theft key status from the hardwired PATS module. If there is a PATS concern, the instrument cluster anti-theft indicator glows steadily for one minute then flashes a 4-digit fault code 10 times when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position. The PATS also flashes the theft indicator approximately every 2 seconds at ignition OFF to act as a visual theft deterrent. Refer to Antitheft and Alarm Systems for addition PATS information.
