Removal
1. Position the vehicle on a hoist.
2. Index-mark the front driveshaft to the universal joint drive pinion flange.





3. CAUTION: Do not allow the driveshaft to hang unsupported.

Disconnect and support the front driveshaft. Discard the bolts and washers.
^ To install, tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).





4. CAUTION: Do not allow the halfshaft to hang unsupported.

Remove the halfshafts.
5. Remove the 4 crossmember bolts and the crossmember.
^ To install, tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).





6. Use a high-lift jack to support the axle assembly.





7. Remove the axle housing tube isolator nut and bolt.
^ To install, tighten to 150 Nm (111 lb-ft).





8. Remove the front mounting isolator bolt.
^ To install, tighten to 150 Nm (111 lb-ft).





9. Remove the bolt from the lower steering shaft-to-steering gear and disconnect the coupler from the rack.
^ To install, tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).





10. Remove the upper mounting insulator bolt.
^ To install, tighten to 150 Nm (111 lb-ft).





11. Carefully lower the front drive axle assembly.
12. Disconnect the vent hose from the axle vent barbed fitting.

Installation

NOTE: Make sure the axle vent hose is connected.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
