Normal Operation
The audio unit receives a dedicated vehicle speed sensor (VSS) signal from the powertrain control module (PCM) through circuit 679 (GY/BK). Depending on the customer-selected setting, the audio unit adjusts the amount of volume gain based on vehicle speed.
DTC C1992 - sets when an open, short to ground, or short to voltage is detected on the VSS circuit 679 (GY/BK) from the PCM.
Possible Causes
- Circuit 679 (GY/BK) open, short to ground or voltage
- Speed sensitive volume setting
- Audio unit
- PCM
