Installation (Steps 1-25)

All vehicles

1. NOTE: For vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, make sure the torque converter stud and the flexplate marks made during removal are aligned.

Position the engine in the vehicle.
2. Install the 4 nuts.
^ Tighten to 109 Nm (80 ft. lbs).





3. NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.

Remove the Lifting Eyes.





4. Install the 8 transmission-to-engine bolts.
^ Tighten to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs).





5. Route the wiring harness to the transmission. Position the fuel tube bracket and install the nuts.
^ Tighten to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs).





Vehicles equipped with a manual transmission
6. Connect the transmission and the LH catalyst monitor sensor electrical connectors and attach the wiring harness retainers.





7. Connect the transmission electrical connector and attach the wiring harness retainer.





8. Route the wiring harness over the transmission and position the wiring harness bracket. Install the nut and connect the RH catalyst monitor sensor electrical connector.
^ Tighten to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs).





Vehicles equipped with automatic transmission
9. Install the transmission cooler line bracket and bolt.
^ Tighten to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs).





10. Connect the knock sensor (KS) electrical connector.





11. Connect the wire pushpin retainers.





12. Install the 4 torque converter nuts.
^ Tighten to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs).
^ Install the access plate.





13. Connect the LH catalyst monitor sensor and transmission electrical connectors. Attach the wiring harness retainer.





14. Connect the transmission electrical connectors. Attach the wiring harness retainer.





15. Route the wiring harness over the transmission and position the wiring harness bracket. Install the nut and connect the RH catalyst monitor sensor.
^ Tighten to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs).





All Vehicles
16. Connect the electrical connector and attach it to the transmission crossmember.





17. Install the starter motor.

18. NOTE: LH shown, RH similar.

Connect the dual converter Y-pipe and install the nuts.
^ Tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs).





19. Install the LH heated oxygen sensor (HO2S).
20. Connect the engine sensor control wiring to the mass air flow (MAF) sensor.





21. Connect the vacuum hose to the vacuum reservoir.





22. Connect both HO2S electrical connectors.





23. Position the powertrain control module (PCM) ground strap and install the stud bolt.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs).





24. Position the PCM wiring harness bracket and install the nut.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs).





25. Connect the PCM electrical connectors.
