Engine Ignition

ENGINE IGNITION

The electronic ignition (EI) system for the 3.0L engine consists of the following components:
- Ignition coil
- Spark plugs
- Spark plug wires
- Radio ignition interference capacitor

The ignition coil:
- is controlled by the powertrain control module (PCM).
- each ignition coil fires 2 spark plugs.

The spark plug:
- ignites the fuel and air mixture.

The spark plug wire:
- carries high voltage pulses from the ignition coil to the spark plugs.
