A/T - Unable To Move Shifter Out of 'PARK'

UNABLE TO SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION OUT OF PARK - BUILT BEFORE 8/28/2006

2007 Ranger
ISSUE
Some 2007 Ranger vehicles built prior to 8/28/2006 may exhibit difficulty in shifting from the park position.
ACTION
Reorientation and reinstallation of the brake booster push rod will allow proper operation. Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Remove the redundant speed control deactivation switch (always first so it doesn't get damaged).
3. Remove the cover (-2475-) and the self-locking pin (-380699-).
4. Remove the brake stop lamp switch (-13480-) and stop lamp switch spacer (-2B219-) from the brake booster push rod and the brake pedal assembly.
5. Remove the brake booster push rod from the brake pedal assembly.
6. Rotate the brake booster push rod 1800 (1/2 turn) from its original orientation.
7. Install the brake booster push rod onto the brake pedal assembly.
8. Install the stop lamp switch spacer (-2B219-).
NOTE
THE STOP LAMP SWITCH SPACER FLANGE SHOULD BE ON THE OUTBOARD SIDE OF PUSH ROD, AS IT CAME FROM THE FACTORY).
9. Install the brake stop lamp switch (-13480-).
10. Install the self-locking pin (-380699-) and the cover (-2475-).
11. Install redundant speed control deactivation switch (brake pedal must be in its full up (released) position).
12. Reconnect the battery.
