Ignition SwitchRemoval and Installation
All vehicles
1. Depower the supplemental restraints system (SRS).
Vehicles with power tilt
2. Remove the 3 screws, pull out to release the top retaining clips and remove the lower steering column opening cover.
3. Remove the 3 screws and the upper and lower steering column shrouds.
^ Disconnect the power tilt switch electrical connector.
4. Detach the wiring harness retainer from the steering column.
5. Disconnect the following electrical connectors to access the ignition switch.
^ Multi-function switch
^ Clockspring
^ Passive anti-function switch (PATS) connector
^ Key release interlock actuator (if equipped)
6. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.
Vehicles with manual tilt
7. Remove the steering column.
^ Place the steering column on a clean workbench.
8. Position the column in the full up position.
9. Using suitable tools, push the first roll pin out of the fixed shoe.
10. Pivoting on the second roll pin, tilt the fixed shoe down.
11. Position the tilt lever to rest against the steering column housing.
All vehicles
12. Remove the ignition switch screw and ignition switch.
^ To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-inch).
13. CAUTION: Make sure the electrical wiring harness is routed correctly and secured to the steering column or damage to the wires and/or connectors may occur.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
