ISSUE
Some 2007-2008 F-150 and Mark LT vehicles built on or before 5/20/2008 with 5.4L 3V engine only, may exhibit a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0301 and P0171, only after extended engine idle events greater than 1 hour.

ACTION
Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release 54.13 and higher or 55.5 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2008.5 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.

NOTE
IF THE VEHICLE IS NOT EXPOSED TO EXTENDED IDLE EVENTS GREATER THAN 1 HOUR, AND DOES NOT HAVE BOTH P0301 AND P0171 DTCS PRESENT, DO NOT REPROGRAM THE PCM. CONTINUE WITH NORMAL POWERTRAIN CONTROLS/EMISSIONS DIAGNOSIS (PC/ED) MANUAL DIAGNOSTICS.

WARRANTY STATUS: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage
IMPORTANT: Warranty coverage limits/policies are not altered by a TSB. Warranty coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part.
