Test H: An Individual Button/Feature Is Inoperative From the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter

PINPOINT TEST H: AN INDIVIDUAL BUTTON/FEATURE IS INOPERATIVE FROM THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) TRANSMITTER

Normal Operation
When the vehicle security module (VSM) receives an input for the panic alarm, it supplies ground to circuit 1 (DB), energizing the horn relay. The horn relay then supplies voltage to circuit 6 (YE/LG), activating the horn. The VSM also supplies voltage to circuit 14 (BN) to activate the parking lamps. The horn and parking lamps cycle on and off until deactivation of the panic alarm.

The VSM will disable the PANIC feature if the ignition key is in any position other than OFF or LOCK.

When the VSM receives an input for lock, it supplies voltage on circuit 117 (PK/BK) and ground on circuits 118 (PK/OG) and 163 (RD/OG). Upon an unlock request, the voltage and ground are reversed on the previously listed circuits.

- DTC B2848 (Horn Output Relay Circuit Short to Ground) - is an on-demand DTC that sets if the VSM detects an open on the horn relay coil circuit 1 (DB).

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Door locks
- Horn system
- Parking lamps
- RKE transmitter
- VSM
