Test I: The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter Has Poor Range Performance

PINPOINT TEST I: THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) TRANSMITTER HAS POOR RANGE PERFORMANCE

Normal Operation
Remote locking/unlocking of the doors and activation/deactivation of the panic alarm is accomplished by the vehicle security module (VSM) receiving a command message from the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter. The VSM processes the command and provides the appropriate output. The RKE transmitter has a maximum operating range of 10 m (33 ft).

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Aftermarket systems
- High power devices
- RKE transmitter
- RKE transmitter battery
- TV/radio transmission towers
- VSM
