Test B: The Adjustable Pedal Is Inoperative/Does Not Operate Correctly - Using The Adjustable Pedal Switch Memory Position Swit

Pinpoint Test B: The Adjustable Brake Pedal is Inoperative/Does Not Operate Correctly Using the Adjustable Pedal Switch, Memory Position Switch and/or the Remote Transmitter (System With Memory Feature)
Refer to Vehicle/Diagrams, Adjustable Pedals for schematic and connector information.

Normal Operation
The adjustable pedal switch is grounded through circuit 57 (BK) and is connected to the driver seat module (DSM) by circuits 1493 (PK/BK) and 1492 (LB/RD). The adjustable pedal motor is connected to the DSM by circuits 1490 (LB/OG) and 1489 (LB/BK) and the adjustable pedal potentiometer is connected to the DSM by circuits 446 (OG/WH) (a common feed circuit shared by memory seats), 447 (OG/RD) (a common return circuit shared by memory seats) and 1491 (LB/YE) (the pedal position sense circuit). When the DSM receives a signal from the adjustable pedal switch, memory position switch or the remote transmitter, it operates the motor in the appropriate direction. The adjustable pedal motor rotates and turns cables that are attached to the brake and accelerator pedals which are then moved toward or away from the driver.
When the adjustable pedal switch is pressed in the forward position (away from the driver), the switch connects circuit 1493 (PK/BK) with circuit 57 (BK) The DSM detects this ground and sends voltage to the adjustable pedal motor along circuit 1489 (LB/BK), the voltage passes through the motor and returns to the DSM along circuit 1490 (LB/OG).
When the adjustable pedal switch is pressed in the rearward position (toward from the driver), the switch connects circuit 1492 (LB/RD) with circuit 57 (BK) The DSM detects this ground and sends voltage to the adjustable pedal motor along circuit 1490 (LB/OG). the voltage passes through the motor and returns to the DSM along circuit 1489 (LB/BK).

^ DTC B1988 Pedal Position Forward Switch Circuit Short to Ground - If the DSM detects a short to ground on circuit 1493 (PK/BK) for more than 2 minutes during normal operation or if the DSM detects a short to ground on the circuit during the on demand self test, DTC B1988 will be set.
^ DTC B1989 Pedal Position Rearward Switch Circuit Short to Ground - If the DSM detects a short to ground on circuit 1492 (LB/RD) for more than 2 minutes during normal operation or if the DSM detects a short to ground on the circuit during the on demand self test, DTC B1989 will be set.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
^ Fuse
^ Wiring, terminals or connectors
^ Adjustable pedal switch
^ Adjustable pedal memory potentiometer
^ Adjustable pedal motor
^ DSM
