Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Test A: The Instrument Cluster (IC) Is Inoperative

PINPOINT TEST A: THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) IS INOPERATIVE

Normal Operation
With the ignition switch in the START or RUN position, the instrument cluster (IC) receives voltage from the central junction box (CJB) through circuits 640 (RD/YE) and 1003 (GY/YE). When the ignition switch is in the RUN or ACC position, voltage is received from the CJB through circuit 489 (PK/BK). With the ignition switch in the OFF position, the instrument cluster (IC) receives its keep-alive voltage from the CJB through circuit 3049 (BK/LG). The instrument cluster (IC) grounding is accomplished through circuit 875 (BK/LB) and the bulb grounding is accomplished through circuit 57 (BK).

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Fuse(s)
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Instrument cluster (IC)
