Test H: The Tachometer Is Inoperative

PINPOINT TEST H: THE TACHOMETER IS INOPERATIVE

Normal Operation
The tachometer indicates engine speed in revolutions per minute (rpm) with a range of 0 to 7,000 rpm. The tachometer receives the engine rpm data from the PCM over the high speed controller area network (HS-CAN) communication bus. If the rpm information sent to the instrument cluster (IC) is invalid or missing, the instrument cluster (IC) defaults the tachometer to 0 rpm.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- PCM
- Instrument cluster (IC)
