Test I: The Door Ajar Warning Indicator Is Never/Always On

PINPOINT TEST I: THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ON

Normal Operation
On vehicles not equipped with remote keyless entry (RKE), the instrument cluster (IC) receives the door ajar status from the RH and LH front door ajar switches through hardwired circuitry. The LH front door ajar switch is hardwired through circuit 344 (BK/YE) and the RH front door ajar switch is hardwired through circuit 345 (BK/PK). The door ajar switches are grounded through circuit 57 (BK). When either of the doors are open or ajar, the door ajar switch closes, completing a ground circuit and signaling the instrument cluster (IC) of the door ajar status.

On vehicles equipped with RKE, the instrument cluster (IC) receives the door ajar status from the vehicle security module (VSM) over the universal asynchronous receiver-transmitter (UART)-based protocol (UBP) network.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Instrument cluster (IC)
